Aziz,
I haven't read the entire thing, but am commenting on what I have read.
Rajiv Gupta, Vinod Dahm, Ambani Arun Netravalli.. bla bla bla...
You put up all these names. They are great achievers. YES. I agree with that... BUT.... (read on)
Baba, the only thing you have managed to do is HIGHLIGHT that INDIA should be proud of these people.
and NOT the other way around.
Microsoft, GM, Hotmail, Citibank ARE NOT Indian companies.
The day when there is a similar list of individuals who are considered GREAT ACHIEVERS because they are holding high positions in INDIAN companies - THAT DAY it would make sense to say "Be proud to be an Indian".
BECAUSE that would be the day when India (as a country) has accomplished SO MUCH that other nationalities feel that working for an INDIAN company is considered a big thing.
Naming INDIVIDUALS who have achieved so much in other companies... and saying "BE PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN" is chutiya giri!
These are THEIR accomplishments and NOT the accomplishments of India or the Indian population as a whole.
These are individual achievements and the only one who should get credit for these are these individuals themselves.
INDIA - the country - should be proud of these people.
Hope tum ko baat samajh mein aayi.
Individual achievements are VERY VERY VERY different than the achievements of the nation.
As a collective nation, the day when India is TRULY shining, that day you will see similar chain emails saying XYZ people are working for an INDIAN COMPANY in a high position ..
AND THAT would be the day where it would make sense to put up a post saying "be proud to be an Indian", because the nation has achieved so much that now the world believes that if they can associate themselves with India, it adds to their status.
Sau baat ki ek baat... DIKHAAWON PE MAT JAAO... APNI AKAL LADAAO.
